How to Play Snake Online: Beginner Strategy Guide

Snake is a classic arcade game: steer toward food, grow longer, and avoid running into your own body. You can try the free browser demo above before exploring the full Loyal Games collection.

1. Learn the controls before increasing speed

Use the arrow keys or WASD on desktop, or the large direction buttons on a phone. Make deliberate turns rather than rapidly tapping several directions.

2. Leave space for your next turn

Collecting food is only useful if you can escape afterward. Before entering a narrow lane, check whether your growing body will block the exit.

3. Plan around your tail

Your tail moves as you travel. Watch how the body changes shape after each move, especially when looping back toward an earlier path.

4. Favor wide routes over risky shortcuts

Open areas give you more room to correct a turn. A longer path to food is often safer than a shortcut through your own body.

5. Build a repeatable scoring routine

Practice smooth, consistent movement first. As the snake grows, avoid sudden changes of direction and focus on keeping a clear route ahead.
